Dr Magombeyi admitted at a local hospital
Zimbabwe Hospital Doctors Association President, Dr Peter Magombeyi, who was found last night is admitted at a Harare hospital where he is being examined by a team of doctors.
Speaking to ZBC News, ZRP Spokesperson, Assistant Commissioner Paul Nyathi, said the doctors are compiling their report which will soon be made public.
He stated that Magombeyi has not been arrested and the police will only speak to him to establish what actually transpired when he is in a position to do so.
He added that Magombeyi has also been allowed to see his family and colleagues as well as access his lawyers. On being asked whether Magombeyi was tortured or hurt in any way, Assistant Commissioner said he has no visible marks or injuries though the doctors were still assessing him.
Meanwhile earlier on, ZBC News was refused access to Magombeyi by his lawyers with the hospital security chasing the crew from the premises. Dr Magombeyi who was found last night in Nyabira, a village 34 kilometres northwest of Harare, went missing on Saturday, the 14th of September in Budiriro, Harare.
Social media was ablaze on Thursday evening following reports that a colleague had spoken to Dr Magombeyi over the phone.
His disappearance caused widespread disturbances in hospitals after some senior doctors and nurses joined the protest by junior doctors over Magombeyi’s disappearance and remuneration.
Doctors staged marches in Harare and Bulawayo demanding the safe return of their colleague and handed a petition to Parliament yesterday following a high court order permitting them to do so peacefully.
