DJ Fresh Joins Skeem Saam

Former Metro FM and YFM drive time host; DJ Fresh recently sparked a conversation on social media for his acting skills.

Fresh who was born and bred in Botswana recently made an appearance on Netflix’s South African film; Seriously Single where he appeared as himself and starred alongside award-winning actress; Fulu Mugovhani, her on-screen mother Connie Chiume and comedian; Tumi Morake.

The rumour started when a user brought up a video of his cameo in comedian and station manager; Ashifa Shabba’s self-titled television show. In the video, Fresh and Shabba where learners reprimanded by their teacher Connie Chiume who’s holding used condoms.

DJ Fresh appeared towards the end of the skit in the video shared and has gone on to feature in many other episodes and skits on the show, as seen on YouTube.

Many of his fans who commented on the video were shocked that he used to be an actor. Although the veteran broadcaster has many accolades as a television and radio host and rarely takes on any acting roles, sources say this will change soon as he wants to grow his brand.

He will apparently join the SABC 1 soapie; Skeem Saam where he will play Skhumbuzo Mbatha’s brother who was a radio host for Thobela FM and Capricorn FM. In the soapie; Skhumbuzo plays a teacher; Meneer Mpho Manaka who is in love with Charity Ramabu.

The two are apparently getting serious in the soapie and Charity wants to meet Mpho’s family. Fans of the show are happy about Charity’s new relationship as she’s known to be a homewrecker on the show.

Sources have not mentioned when DJ Fresh Joins Skeem Saam, he is yet to appear in the soapie as there’s still some paperwork to finalise with producers and the casting manager of the popular SABC 1 soapie.
