Troubled premiership giants Dynamos has finally fired head coach Lloyd Mutasa as relegation worries for the country’s most successful club set in.

DYNAMOS OFF SEASON BLUES

The Dynamos executive Wednesday wielded the axe on their former midfielder for the second time this season following the team’s dismal campaign which has turned the Glamour Boys into a laughing stock.

The club’s juniors coach Lloyd Chigove will take over on an interim basis as the club searches for a new coach with four time championship winner Kalisto Pasuwa and Rahman Gumbo on the team’s radar.

Chigove will be assisted by former Dynamos captain Murape Murape with Richard Chihoro expected to remain in his role as the current team manager.

This is the second time Mutasa has been given the boot this season after initially being dismissed in May following a difficult start to the 2018 Castle Lager Premier Soccer league season. He was reinstated a month later.

Mutasa, who was reinstated to the post in June, failed to deliver and the team is currently battling relegation after a string of poor results which has seen them win just one match in their last six matches. The win was against struggling Bulawayo City, who have lost 20 matches this season so far.

In total, it becomes the third time Mutasa has parted ways with the Harare giants in his coaching career, having also led the side in the early part of the campaign during the 2011 season before giving way to Pasuwa, who took the team on a memorable four consecutive league titles.

Dynamos chairman Isaiah Mupfurutsa confirmed they had made some changes but could not give the finer details.

“Yes it’s true that we have parted ways with Lloyd Mutasa. We named an interim technical team which includes head coach Lloyd Chigove assisted by a backroom staff comprising of Murape Murape with Richard Chihoro remaining as the team manager,” Mupfurutsa said.

Pressure has been mounting at Dynamos as they are currently enduring their worst Premiership campaign in recent years evoking memories of the 2005 season when the Harare giants survived relegation by a whisker.

The poor form continued on Wednesday when Mutasa’s charges were held at home by minnows Bulawayo Chiefs which leaves them in 13th position and just a point ahead of Chapungu who occupy the last relegation spot on the log.

DeMbare’s current position on the log is a far cry from Mutasa’s target at the start of the season after the former Tanganda and Dynamos midfielder declared he was vying for the league title after coming agonisingly close last term.
