Contract standoff rocks Zim Gems preparation for Malawi match.
Zim Morning Post reports that the Zimbabwe Gems had raised several concerns concerning their welfare, particularly the fact that they had not yet signed contracts with the tournament almost coming to an end. The Zimbabwe World Cup Netball team on Thursday morning held a meeting about players’ contracts, a few hours before playing Malawi in Group F.
An unnamed Zimbabwe Netball Association official who spoke to the publication said: We met with the ladies this morning and agreed that money had been wired from government and they would receive their dues.
They were also told that upon arrival back home they will also receive another batch of funds from the government. So the matter has been resolved.
The players reportedly signed contracts on Thursday morning after the meeting. They have already played four matches, winning two and losing two, with Malawi encounter their fifth.
