Chivayo Donates 100k To Charity

Leading energy firm Intratek Zimbabwe has intensified its massive corporate social responsibility campaign (CSR) with the latest feat being a donation of a staggering $100 000 as part of philanthropic works lined up for the second half of the year.

The donation was made Wednesday night during a glittering annual Green Ambassadors Guild Awards ceremony that was held at the Zimparks headquarters in the capital city.

Part of the donation was directed to First Lady Amai Auxillia Mnangagwa’s charity foundation Angel of Hope.The First Lady was guest of honour.

The company also donated another $50 000 towards the construction of Diamond Land Ecohub, an initiative of Green Ambassador Dereck Mpofu and Environment , Water and Climate Hon Oppah Muchinguri-Kashiri.

Intratek Zimbabwe ‘s managing director Wicknel Chivayo was said to be on a business trip in the United States, and his proxy prominent lawyer (also executive chairman) Wilson Manase announced the donation on his behalf.

The initiative will essentially see the construction of an environmental centre (hub) in Mutare .

The centre presents a confluence of vision and ideas backed by technology and human resources and infrastructure.The hub seeks to promote a green ecosystem which promotes agriculture,wildlife management,renewable energy use and development.

In a speech read on his behalf (by Manase), Chivayo said:

“Our executive chairman has committed Intratek Zimbabwe to support the worthy cause and it is my duty and pleasure to add substance to this pledge.Intratek Zimbabwe hereby donates $50 000 in support of the construction of the Diamond Land EcoHub.In addition, the company undertakes to install or pay for all solar street and outdoor lighting for the complex upon its completion.
“With your permission Hon Minister, as a gesture in recognition of the presence of of the nation’s mother Amai Mnangagwa and her sterling philanthropic efforts , Intratek Zimbabwe further commits to donate an additional $50 000 to the amazing Charity Of Hope initiative which has done so much in alleviating the plight of underprivileged people in Zimbabwe.”
He went on to congratulate all those who were given accolades at the ceremony and expressed his excitement in being involved in an environmental awareness and youth empowering initiative, him being in the same age bracket of what he described as “vibrant and dynamic constituency”.

“Ladies and gentleman, as alluded by our Chairman, this is an occasion to join hands and celebrate with those who have made a mark in the field of Environment , Water and Climate.My hearty congratulations to the award winners tonight (Wednesday), we are proud of you.

“Honorable minister, your invitation of Intratek was accepted with no hesitation.We are proud to be associated with this grand occasion and in my personal capacity as a youth,I am flattered at the opportunity to promote and support the Diamond Land Eco Hub,” read Manase on Chivayo’s behalf.

He added:

“We,the youth form a vibrant and dynamic constituency in Zimbabwe.We thrive on disruption,innovation and adrenalin. We are technologically driven and communicate via social and online media.I am therefore delighted that the envisaged hub aspires to promote youth participation in their own future and that of their planet,I am also gratified to note that the Green Ambassador is a patriotic youth like myself.The event was graced by captains of industry, clergymen and socialites.

Among them was PHD leader’s wife Prophetess Tendai Magaya, Zimplats ceo Alex Mhembere among others.
Entertainment was provided by dancehall music sensation Winky D who was at his his usual best.

Meanwhile, Intratek is a champion of the local energy sector with the company having won several multi-million electricity generation and renewable energy deals including the $200 million Gwanda Solar Project which was once in the eye of a storm before normalcy prevailed after pessimists were shamed.
