Chipezeze engages lawyer over Match-fixing accusations

Chipezeze engages lawyer over Match-fixing accusations.

The 29-year-old who plays for Baroka in the Absa Premiership made some clumsy mistakes in the game against DRC which saw the team losing 4-0 and getting eliminated from the tournament.

ChipezezeWarriors keeper Elvis Chipezeze says he has approached his lawyer as he makes efforts to clear his name following allegations of match-fixing at the 2019 Afcon. His actions raised suspicion with many people believing the former Chicken Inn goalie was paid to influence the result.

There were also reports suggesting the game was indeed fixed but CAF failed to prove it. Speaking to Limpopo Sports Zone after returning to his base in South Africa, Chipezeze said:

“You can’t sell games at the biggest stage of the competition where you need to make a name for yourself. I don’t even support that thing (match-fixing).

“I have been talking to my Lawyer and he was telling me he is going to look into the issue maybe see what he can do to clear my name.” The keeper adds that he believes the DRC game is not his last in national colours and will feature for the Warriors again.

“It was probably the worse game of my life but that was not the last time for me playing for the national team,” said Chipezeze.
