Chaos Is Destroying The Economy – Amazulu King
AmaZulu King Misuzulu kaZwelithini says the ongoing chaos and looting in KZN and Gauteng is destroying the economy.
Factories, malls, and warehouses have been looted and destroyed amid protests over the arrest and imprisonment of former President Jacob Zuma. The King said:
This chaos is destroying the economy, and it is the poor who will suffer the most.
Trucks and vehicles and have also been torched as protests degenerated into chaos.
At least 72 people have died in KwaZulu-Natal and Gauteng as a result while thousands have been arrested.
The King has condemned the violence and appealed for calm.
The state has deployed more soldiers to affected areas to quell the violent protests.
President Cyril Ramaphosa is also set to meet with other political parties to discuss the best possible way forward.
