Chakoroma hopes for a better season
NGEZI Platinum Stars skipper Liberty Chakoroma says they are working on a winning start to the 2019 season to surpass last season’s unbeaten run.
Ngezi went for 14 games without a defeat last season and Chakoroma believes anything above that will help them in their quest for a maiden title.
Chakoroma believes they have what it takes to do better than they did last season under new head coach Erol Akbay.
“For us (Ngezi) we are looking forward to bettering our 14-game unbeaten run. For the upcoming season we want something greater,” said Chakoroma.
Chakoroma said the team has the capacity to achieve better following the arrival of a new coach and other players.
Ngezi has lost Bernard Donovan, Tichaona Chipunza, Clive Augusto, God-knows Murwira and Walter Mukanga.
Chakoroma believes no player is irreplaceable.
“I can’t compare our previous squad and our current squad but with the 2019 squad, we look like a team that can win the championship.
“I am happy with the new players we have, they are promising to deliver and that is an added advantage for us.
“They are more than capable to replace those who have left the club, they are actually perfect replacements,” he added.
Chakoroma said they have learnt a lot from their South Africa pre-season match against Bidvest.
“We have learnt a lot so far and we are still learning as well.
“We realised that we need to work more on our defence, we conceded more goals.
“We need to gel and master the new system faster. I am sure we will be ready when the season starts. The championship is definitely coming to Ngezi. I am confident,” added Chakoroma.
