One person died on Wednesday and two passengers were injured when a Mazda Demio she was travelling in hit a dead cow and overturned at the 28 km peg along Mazowe-Centenary highway.
Mashonaland Central acting police spokesperson Assistant Inspector Petros Masikati confirmed the accident saying it was due to speeding.
“I can confirm that a female adult Joice Chitauro died on the spot after the vehicle hit a dead cow that had been hit earlier on by another vehicle, the driver Onward Kahiya failed to control the vehicle and it overturned injuring another passenger and the driver, confirmed Masikati.
“The injured were ferried to Concession hospital and the driver is in a stable condition but the other passenger is in a critical condition after sustaining several injuries all over the body.”
The police implored drivers to be vigilant on the road saying the country is a cattle country and above all farmers should keep their cattle from straying.
“We are imploring motorists to be very careful in order to save human life, Zimbabwe is a cattle country hence drivers should avoid speeding and to farmers we are saying they should avoid their cattle from straying.”
