Bushiri’s Followers Lose Millions After Being Promised 5650 Percent Profit
Underfire self-proclaimed prophet Shepherd Bushiri has more woes to deal with after members of his church, the Enlightened Christian Gathering, reported him and the church to the Hawks after they lost millions in an investment scheme linked to him.
250 members of the Mpumalanga branch of Bushiri’s Enlightened Christian Gathering are reported to have lost the money after investing the money with a senior pastor at the church, Nicholus Mgiba. Mgiba who is the CEO of Merger Chen Solutions (MCS) promised miraculous returns of 5 650 percent in only 6 months.
Those who invested R200,000 were promised R11.5m after six months. Those who invested R1m were promised R57.6m in six months. Most of the congregants who invested in the scheme are said to be retired people. The Mpumalanga Branch said that it had invested R10 million in the scheme. Other branches who have also been similarly affected include Limpopo, the Eastern Cape and Gauteng.
According to church leaders, Bushiri who is already facing criminal charges for fraud has tried his best to take responsibility for congregants losing their money in the so-called investment scheme.
