Bako steals the show again
ZIMBABWE’S junior motocross champion rider, Emmanuel Bako, was the toast of the day for Gauteng Province during the WOMZA North vs South Inter-provincial Challenge Championship in Bloemfontein, South Africa.
He ruled the roost in the 85cc Pro Mini Class on Saturday.
A big turnout of 340 male, and female riders from Free State, Eastern Cape, Gauteng, Kwa-Zulu Natal, Limpopo and Western Cape, converged at Tempe Motocross track to renew their love for motocross racing.
They competed in different classes, in a shootout, to see who was the best in their class.
And 14-year-old Bako, who was this year picked to represent Gauteng Province, showed his class.
He turned on another blistering performance to emerge as the overall winner of the 85cc Pro Mini Class, which had a strong field of 25 riders.
The Form Two pupil, at St John’s College in Harare, was the rider of the day as he outclassed all his rivals, after scooping all the 50 points, in the 85cc Pro Mini Class.
His favourite team-mate, Ryan Adler, came second with 42 points, the same with third-placed Jordan van Wyk of Free State.
There were over 36 riders in both the Pro Mini and the junior small (wheel) 85cc classes with 25 competing in the former class. Bako’s father and manager, Brighton, could not hide his excitement.
“What a great day for Emmanuel. He was just untouchable in his class in which he produced another dominant performance.
‘’He was exceptional. We really enjoyed this competition. It’s a great sport, motocross has been in Emmanuel’s life, since he was four years old, and he is now regarded as one of the best junior riders in South Africa.
