BACK TO SENDER – PROPHET CLAIMS 20 VICTIMS IN A MONTH | A Harare based prophet known for ‘back to sender’ spells is quickly gaining momentum after boasting of his success and stunning body count as a result of his prayers.
Bishop Oliver Magaso of Spiritual Shield Apostolic Church based in Hatcliffe claims to be an expert in ‘back to sender’ prayers. ‘Back to sender’ is the term used when one wishes to return evil magic or sorcery back to its source.
Bishop Magaso takes his spiritual vigilante job very seriously. A lot of people consult him seeking reprieve from wicked sorcery done on their beings which is meant to torment them.
According to the bishop all he has to do is say a prayer and the juju goes back to its owner where it torments him until he dies. His patients include those afflicted by spiritually induced mental illness, those with generational curses, victims of sorcery from jealous people, victims of spiritual spouses among other things.
The Prophet boasts of a 100 percent success rate and he claims about 20 wicked people die each month as a result of his prayer rituals. He does not use charms or mysterious amulets but uses basic things like eggs, milk and lemons for his prayer ritual. A red cloth is at the crux of the prayer as he says red symbolizes war and therefore fights the belligerent spirits. He says counter attacking witchcraft is not a bad thing as it is just. Over 2000 people have died as result of the prophet ‘sending back’ their enchantments to them.
The prophet’s clientele includes singers, church leaders, politicians and footballers who all turn to him in their hour of despair. He claims some come from as far as Korea and Japan to seek his assistance in ridding them of bad luck and sorcery.
A girl (Matilda Chenjera) who was being tormented by a ngozi spirit gave her testimony on how the prophet helped her overcome and defeat the spirit that had been taunting her and causing her to have suicidal tendencies. Matilda’s mother and sister claim when the spirit possessed her she would become insane and start running wildly in the roads muttering about wanting to die. However when they stumbled upon Bishop Magaso he managed to help Matilda and she is living a normal, stress free life now.
