Army Boss ‘Denies’ Ordering Troops To Shoot Protesters In Violent Harare Demo

Zimbabwe’s armed forces boss, Chief General Philip Valerio Sibanda is reportedly demanding to know who ordered troops to intervene in the chaotic events witnessed last week following MDC Alliances protest.

According to reports, Gen Sibanda has asked for an explanation from President-elect Emmerson Mnangagwa, his advisers and intelligence chiefs of the events of August 1 that which about six people dead in the capital.

Further reports from New Zimbabwe states that the general wants to know the identity of armed men dressed in ragtag uniforms that were shown on social media beating people and riding in military vehicles since.

Sibanda said no Zimbabwean soldier was ordered to fire on unarmed civilians and no such directive would ever be given.
