Armed Robbers Who Terrorised Cross-Boarder Buses Finally Get Justice As Reign Of Terror Ends
Three armed robbers who had become a menace to cross-border buses and passengers have had their reign of terror cut short after they were sentenced to a combined 51 years in jail.
Jabson Shonhe (39), an international truck driver and Freddy Ginotry Chibwana (28) were sentenced 20 years for robbing passengers aboard Smart Bus Service in December.
One passenger, Margaret Mungani, died while three others were injured in the robbery. 5 years were suspended leaving the two to with an effective 15-years in prison.
After that robbery, the pair ganged up with Samuel Moyo (29) for another robbery. This time they robbed a RegStep Bus Service two weeks later just outside Beitbridge.
As no one was injured during this robbery, the gang were sentenced to 10 years in prison each for this robbery.
Three years were suspended on condition of good behaviour leaving an effective 7 years each.
This means that Shonhe and Chibwana will serve 21 years in prison each while Moyo will serve 7 years. The matter was handled by Regional magistrate Crispen Mberewere.
