AFM Glen View war in court
An AFM Glen View 7 pastor under the leadership of Amon Madawo faction yesterday hauled the rival leadership under Cossum Chiyangwa to court accusing them of disturbing their church services.
The matter came to light at the Harare Civil Court where Steve Wadi applied for a protection order against Never Kawari who he said verbally abuses the Madawo faction congregants.
“Your Worship, there are disputes in AFM church as there are two factions which are still waiting for the High Court judgment on the legitimacy of the church leadership.
“He insults me and the congregants using obscenities.
“The Madawo faction is having the service in the morning from 8am to 11am then the other faction will start at 11.30am till they finish, so the problem is that the respondent wants us to attend the services outside the church,” he said.
Wadi told the court that the Chiyangwa faction were not meeting the demands of the council.
“They should pay 75 percent of the bills and we should pay 25 percent for the running of the premises.
“We want to attend the services as usual for peace and order to prevail up until the judgment from the High Court is granted,” said Wadi.
The respondent denied the allegations.
“My client did not breach peace in any single manner or insult anyone but he is the one who was harassed by the applicant and his congregants.
“There is no basis to grant this order since the submissions are mere speculation,” he said.
Presiding magistrate Tafadzwa Miti postponed the matter to today for a ruling.
