AAG Ropes In Diamond Entrepreneur Mogul Martin Boka
Diamond entrepreneur mogul Mr Martin Boka was recently appointed as consulting adviser in charge of the diamond sector to the Affirmative Action Group (AAG) presidium.
As espoused in the founding charter of the AAG he will also assume and exercise an advocacy role in respect of the rights of all disadvantaged persons or groups in the diamond sector to some kind of corrective response from the location of their grievance, at all levels of society, and all sectors of the economy.
Among some of his duties will be advocating for the rights of the majority in a society founded on democratic principles to programmes which will both give appropriate mechanisms for survival through socio-economic change, and enhance capacity to self-development by accessing resources.
The appointment also states that amongst the duties is to mobilise and exert organised pressure for the elimination of all barriers that hinder the participation of blacks,women,the disabled and the youth as asset owners and asset managers in all sectors of the economy
In his acceptance speech at the AAG offices in Highlands Mr Boka said he would advocate for the opening up of opportunities for the locals in the diamond industry.
“The most important thing was the opening up of spaces for the future generations, the youths and women and carrying on the legacy that people like Dr. Philip Chiyangwa and the late Roger Boka started, participating economically, not just in Zimbabwe but on the continent and globally,” said Boka.
Explaining the appointed AAG founding President Mr Phillip Chiyangwa said of Mr Boka it was an opportunity to have managed to get him on board.
“It’s an opportunity to actually have managed to lure him, I said your father started this thing with me you are so knowledgeable about diamonds, come and work with new team,” said Mr Chiyangwa.
