5 people die with COVID-19 in 24 hours

One hundred and twenty-four people tested positive for coronavirus on Saturday, 8 August 2020, the Ministry of Health and Child Care has announced.

The ministry said the 5 deaths recorded yesterday were recorded in 4 different provinces:

5 people died from COVID-19 yesterday. This was revealed by the Ministry of Health in the COVID-19 daily update that informs the nation about the progression of the virus since the onset of the pandemic on 20 March 2020.

The deaths were reported in Bulawayo, Harare, Manicaland, Mashonaland East and Masvingo. all recording one each.

The update also stated that 4 returnees 2 from Mozambique and 2 from South Africa also tested positive for the novel coronavirus. This comes after South Africa breached the one million mark, prompting the country’s president to announce that they are returning to a level 3 lockdown.
