HIGH COURT EVICTS KHUPE FROM MDC OFFICES
The High Court judge, Justice Maxwell Yakima today passed a verdict ordering Movement for Democratic Change (MDC-T) Vice President Dr Thokozani Khupe and eight allies to vacate the party offices, “Stand No 41A, Fort Street, between 1st and 2nd Avenue, Bulawayo”, and surrender it to MDC-T Bulawayo Provincial Chairman, Gift Banda.
In granting the writ of mandamus (spoliation order), Justice Yakima ruled that Banda was the “highest ranking official” in the province.
This follows after MDC-T Bulawayo provincial chairperson Gift Banda had dragged Khupe, to court for allegedly grabbing the opposition party’s provincial offices.
The court ruling was hailed by the plaintiffs who expressed their joy and faith in the judicial system.
“We are excited and applaud due process applied therein. We have been vindicated that the cabal has no legal bases to violently invade our offices.
We appeal to our membership to follow due processes and retrain themselves when provoked by the same”
